Living in Boston as a 20-something woman certainly has its perks. Not only is Boston a beautiful city, it also has so much more to offer than some people may know. The nightlife of Boston is one of my favorite parts of the city. There is nothing like reliving my college years on a Friday or Saturday night by getting all made up with my best girlfriends and preparing for a night on the town. Going out requires a lot of effort – whether it’s picking out the right outfit for the right occasion, or making sure our hairstyles and makeup lasts through the unexpected adventures of the night.

Doing this is what we all look forward to during the week at our jobs, and it certainly makes sitting in a cubicle more bearable knowing (or not knowing!) what the upcoming weekend will bring. I’m all about finding the most convenient and time-saving ways to work, while maintaining an active social life. That’s why last week while we were getting ready to go to Lolita Cocina & Tequila Bar, and my friend suggested we go get our hair done instead of trying to tame our manes in the humidity by ourselves, I was skeptical.

I’ve been to salons many times, but now living in Boston everywhere has become increasingly more expensive, something a right-out-of-college girl would heavily try to avoid. Not only the expense, but due to popular demand on a Friday night- lines can be hours long. I was looking for something that was more convenient while still being affordable.

I found a new service called BelBella a couple months ago when my best friend Katie and I were looking for convenient, on-demand hairstyling that wouldn’t break the bank. BelBella is an app that works on iPhones and Androids–or you can book directly on their site. The beauty of it (no pun intended) is that it’s both convenient and affordable. I can be at work on Friday and schedule my appointment with just a few touches on my iPhone for any time I want, and not have to worry about calling a salon, waiting in a line, or being annoyed by overbooking. Not only can I get a blowout, but my girl friends can too, because the hairstylist comes right to my apartment. BelBella connects straight to my credit card, so I don’t have to worry about getting cash. Also, there’s no need to tip, there is just a simple flat rate. The hairstylists are all professionals, and have their own profiles, and reviews, so you know that they are reliable. Not only is this for blowouts, but BelBella will soon will be featuring any hairstyle and makeup looks you want, so I know I’ll be using it in the future to prepare for my weekend fun in the city.
